March 31

Year 10 - we meet again . . . Welcome back to ICT, it's nice to see you all and I hope you had a fun spring break.

Term 3 is beginning and we have a fab project to finish the year with.

Problem:
Save trees! Direct Mail ads are boring! Promotional CD s are a great tool to get yourself noticed and let people know that you are capable of exploring new boundaries of technology. By creating a promotional CD-ROM, you can combine a number of multimedia technologies all into one tightly integrated package that is transportable, and cheap to mail. Receiving a CD versus a typical print ad offers a real "wow factor" that differentiates from traditional brochures, handouts, etc.

Challenge:
You are a multimedia designer employed by a company to design a new and exciting Flash-based multimedia CD for a product or service they offer . It should conform closely to the Design Specification agreed between yourself and the company.
As ususal you will be able to find all the documents you need to be successful in this blog in the sidebar. Please take the time to preview all of the documents before you begin this course so you know exactly what is expected of you. Also, dust off your process journal/blog because we will be using it again.

We are at the beginning of the course and I'd like to offer you some assistance with respect to creating posts for your Process Journal/blog. You are conducting research and want to summarize using the following:

  • From my research I found out . . .
  • I have discovered that . . .
  • My conclusions are that . . .
  • I have kept my research relevant by . . .

Starting Questions that can be useful while undergoing research: Why? When? Where? What? How many? How often? How much?

*Remember to cite your work and save all url's for future reference;-)

Let's get this show on the road!

For all those who would like to put in extra effort and create an actual CD follow the steps in the create help sheet and export your movie as a .exe file. Then create (in the same folder) a txt file and type the following:

[autorun]
open=autorun.exe
icon=autorun.ico

Replace autorun.exe by your movie and autorun.ico by any icon you might have (ONLY .ICO FILES!) and the hit file -> save as. After you've done that open the drop down box which defines the file type and select all files. Call the file autorun.inf and put it in the same folder as the movie. Put the content of the folder (including the icon if you have one) onto the CD/DVD/Blue ray disc. and you're done. If you need any help I can probably help in lunches.
